Iskate
Inc. The San Diego Ice Arenas
Three
well-established San Diego Ice skating families, the Linssens, Kovtuns
and Recchias, own Iskate Inc. They have dedicated a large amount of time
and financial reserves to the enhancement of the ice skating industry in
the San Diego market.
Philip Linssen recently took over ownership and management duties from
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Luciani who until the end of 2000 had been directly
involved in the day to day management of the Mira Mesa facility. Brigit
Luciani, Mr. Luciani’s wife, helps manage the facility, and is also an
active judge for the ISI Skating Institute and competes actively in
regional and national skating competitions. In 2000 the Luciani family
sold their interest to family member, Philip Linssen and his family, and
retired from Ice Rink management.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Kovtun are active participants in San Diego Ice Dance
activities, and are dedicated to creating Ice skating awareness in San
Diego County.
Beginning in 1997 and every year since, San Diego Ice Arenas, in
partnership with Sentre Partners Downtown, constructs and operates an
outdoor Ice Rink for the benefit of Children’s Hospital.
This level of involvement by the owners demonstrates that this group is serious about running Ice Rinks with the pride
and dedication that is needed to make a facility successful and a
recognized complement for San Diego.
The San Diego Ice Arena at Mira Mesa has been under Iskate Inc.
ownership for the past ten years, and is currently managed by Philip
Linssen as General Manager. Philip has over 20 years in business
management, and worked closely with Joe Luciani in sports and
recreation, specializing in the ice skating industry.
The senior management team all have extensive experience in managing or
coaching at San Diego Ice Arena, with over 100 years combined
experience.
